Department of Education

The Department of Education was established on 7th September, 1978 as Department of Educational Research, under NEHU, Nagaland Campus. Later it was re-named as Department of Education which came under Nagaland University on 6th September, 1994.

The Department offers Master of Arts degree course in Education. Duration of the MA programme consists of four semesters in 2 years covering sixteen course papers with a number of optional selective papers. In addition to the Masters Degree programme, Department offers Doctoral Research Study in Education. Presently there are 25 Ph.D scholars working in the Department.

The Department is under the School of Humanities and Education. This Department looks after Under Graduate studies in Educatio, B.Ed., and M.Ed. studies under Nagaland University.

Academic activities in the Department:

Classroom teachings are spread over all six days from Monday to Saturday a week. Besides classroom teaching, all students are actively engaged in writing minimum eight assignment papers and participate in eight course seminars every semester.

Department offers research facilities to PG Students. They are allowed to opt for doing preliminary research dissertation in lieu of two theory papers.

Moreover, Department has an Educational Laboratory since Practical is a compulsory paper in 4th semester, where every student have to complete 10 experiments. This Laboratory has got number of standardized test materials. Using these tests MA students and Ph.D scholars can test, measure and identify various types of attributes of the people such as Intelligence, Interest, Aptitude, Ability, value, memory, mental fatigue, attitude, study habit, achievement motivation, anxiety etc.
