Department of Hindi

The Dept. of Hindi officially came into existence in the year 2016. It started M.A. Hindi Course in September 2017. The Department is situated in one of the Nagaland University Campuses i.e. Kohima Campus, Meriema.

The Department offers a 2-year M.A. (Hindi) Course spread through 4 semesters with an intake capacity of 20 students. Besides, the Department started to run Ph.D. programme in 2018 with the objective to cover all the disciplines related to the subject along with providing basic knowledge about research methodology, publication and ethics. At present 05 students are pursuing their Ph.D. The research is being conducted as per the latest UGC guidelines.

Vision:

1. Department aims to provide comprehensive information about the history of eras in Hindi Literature, specialities and social background; brief sketches and information of prominent Poets, Novelists, Dramatists, Essayists and Author's; providing detailed information on the history of History of Hindi Literature, Hindi language and the modern aspects related to it.
2. The Department aspires to grow as a full-fledged, multidisciplinary department under the proposed School of Humanities and Education. The Department focuses on developing intellectual and critical capacities of the students, to mould them in responsible citizens so that they can meet the societal needs as and when required.
